Google and Qualcomm Working Together to fit Project Tango Tech in smartphones

Google has revealed plans to develop a new prototype smartphone based on project Tango on partnership with Qualcomm, which could be used as a refrence for production-ready devices in future. Last year, Google announced project Tango, its 3D mapping technology for smartphones and tablets that was expected to be available in devices in early 2015. However, the company has missed its targets and hasn't had a refrence design for manufacturer to work with so far. Now, Google has teamed up with Qualcomm to develop a prototype that will serve this purpose and expects manufacturer to come on board for a mass release in near future. The currently available tablet development kits, which are based on Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, are bigger in size, while the being developed in partnership with Qualcomm brings the size down to that of a regular smartphone, effectively making it convenient for developers to carry around. Qualcomm has revealed that the prototype will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 chipset, alongwith a variety of sensors to aid the 3D mapping technology. According to Qualcomm, developers can expect to get their hands on the first batch of development kits by the third quarter of this year.

E3 2015: what to Expect from Sony and Microsoft

E2 2015 is looking like it will become a memorable moment in gaming as Microsoft and Sony gears up for a massive showdown. But what should we expect from these giants of the industry?
Well, the most we can expect from this E3 are new games, but there is a chance for new hardware as well, along with some surprises. We’re surprised nothing have been leaked about what Microsoft is planning since leading up to the event in 2014, all of Microsoft’s main showings were revealed on the web by leakers.
Sony stood a little firmer because the company was more efficient at protecting its secrets.
Microsoft:
We don’t expect Microsoft to talk specifies and to show numbers, for that doesn’t matter. What matter is the content on show, and we believe the software giant will deliver in this department.
Expect a ton of games, but nothing related to Kinect. Furthermore, expect to see Halo 5 and the new Tomb Raider in action. Microsoft may also want to get back at Sony with a big third party exclusive after the Japanese company managed to bag the newest street fighter.
Also, the industry might be ready for another Xbox one price drop, and Microsoft could be gearing upto deliver. Let’s face it, the console is not doing so well, and even at $349, the $399 Playstation 4 is still winning the battle.
To tap it off, Microsoft may introduce slim xbox one unit to reignite interest in this console. This could be possibility since the company announced the availability of a new controller. This controller has a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack, whereas the original does not.
Since this could turn out to be the best Xbox One controller, Microsoft might make it available with the possible with new Xbox One, just another reason for folks to go out and pick it up.
Sony:
This company doesn’t have much to do with the Playstation 4 at E3 rather than show new games. The console has proven itself as the most powerful and the most easiest to develop for; Sony do not need to dig deep in order to gain new fans or new developers.

Expect the company to show games, talk about stats, and make a big deal about indie developers.

Top Reasons Skype can help you to Grow and Innovate Your Business

Skype innovation Moment maker, digital guru and extreme innovator, Chris Merkle uses Skype video calling to manage his digital agency and collaborate with teams around the globe. This means he has more time to focus on the future of digital and what’s next, as well as growing his business. You can keep up with him and his adventures in innovation through Facebook. For now here are four of his top reasons skype can help your business grow.
1.       Go global or stay home
Want to grow your own business? It’s time to think global. Whether your company sources products from overseas or include sales offices around the world, it will likely need to support folks from every walk of life.
2.       Seal the deal (Eye to Eye):
Initially, new business connections will come via world-of-mouth or referrals. In other words, you can chat up confidentially over a coffee. When negotiating a multi-million dollar contract or investment, it makes sense to spend the money for an airline ticket to meet someone in person for a few hours. But for those smaller deals, Skype is a great way to communicate trust and confidence over video, while keeping that flight money in your bank account.
3.       True task masters
Accountability is key here, especially when you’re on projects with aggressive deadlines. If one person no-shows, huge communication gaps happen and time gets wasted. Reviewing each person’s daily to-do list or overarching goals within a group video call ensures everyone starts on the same page.
4.       Catch the brightest idea

Creativity knows no timeframe, usually that influx of ideas rarely coinsides with time spent “working”. Ideas get triggered at the strangest times—the middle of the night, while on vacation, even when simply strolling down the street. Skype screen sharing offers a bit of collaborative structure to the creative chaos. It allows you to clearly communicate every random thought or “game plan” to your team—in a sensible, organized manner.

Overkill 3 for windows phone will never support 512MB devices

If you have a windows phone with just 512MB of RAM, you will never be able to play the third person sci-fi shooter Overkill 3. Its publisher, GameTroopers, has confirmed that game won’t get an update that will allow support for those phones.
The publisher posted the bad news on its twitter account today:
“unfortunately Overkill 3 won’t support 512mb devices ever. Even while it could optimize memory, the performance on some devices is bad.”

That’s certainly bad news for a lot of current windows phone owners and it shows that more and more apps and games are being made without support for low-end devices.

Owners of windows phone devices and Volvo cars will soon be able to control aspects of the car via Cortana. The car maker announced plans to update its windows phone app, Volvo on call, in late June to include voice control support via Microsoft’s DIGITAL ASSISTANT.
Details about what exactly Volvo owners will be able to control via Cortana have yet to be revealed. The company did say that the app update will include “enhanced ‘send-to-car’ capabilities purposes”. Volvo also plans to update their apps for Android and IOS that will allow owners to control aspects of their car via android wear smartwatches and apple watch.

Volvo on call is currently available in 21 markets and is a standard for Volvo car buyers in Brazil, the US and Canada. The company says it currently has around 230,000 active subscribers for Volvo on call worldwide. The windows phone version off the app already allows users to locate their Volvo car on a map, along with remote locking of their vehicle and getting help from roadside assistance, among other things.

Microsoft Surface 3 vs. Surface Pro 3: Scratching Beneath The Surface

Can’t decide whether to get the Microsoft Surface 3 or the Surface Pro 3? Choosing tablet goes beyond the form factor so, here we try to compare Microsoft’s tablet offerings, specs sheet vs. specs sheet.
The first generation of Microsoft tablets were announced in June 2012 and the tablets attracted many customers but the company failed to achieve expected sales. The latest generation of the Microsoft tablets are the surface 3 and surface pro 3.
Both the Microsoft tablets are packed with features that attract many tablet enthusiasts. We take a look at some of the features and how the tablets compare against each other.
Performance:
Microsoft markets the surface pro 3 as a ‘’tablet that can replace your laptop’’. The tablet is powered by the fourth-generation Intel Core family of processors i3, i5, i7 with clock speed of 1.5GHz/1.9GHz/1.7GHz upto 2.9GHz/3.3GHz. The tablet also has 4GB/8GB RAM.
The Surface 3 tablets are powered by an Intel Atom x7-Z8700, quad-core 1.6GHz processor. The tablet is comparatively slow in comparison to the surface pro 3. Experts suggest that users should opt for the4GB RAM version of surface 3 rather than the 2GB version as the latter does not have enough memory for running Windows 8.1.
Display:
The surface 3 has a 10.8 –inch multi-touch display with 1920 by 1280 pixels resolution and 213 ppi, which offers accurate color representation making it an elegant experience for users.
The surface pro 3 has a slightly bigger screen of 12-inch and supports higher resolution of 2160 by 1440 ppi, which is slightly higher than the surface 3 and due to bigger screen size.
Both the microsoft devices have an aspect ratio of 3:2.
Storage:
The surface pro 3 is available in 64/128/256/512GB options while the Surface 3 is available in 64/128GB versions. The storage for both the tablets can be extended using a micro SD card.
Camera:
Both the microsoft tablets are equipped with a front and rear camera. The surface Pro 3 has a 5MP front-facing camera compared to the 3.5MP front-facing camera of the surface 3. However, surface 3 has a better 8MP main camera when compared to the 5MP rear-facing camera of the Surface Pro 3.
Stylus:

Usres of both the Microsoft Surface 3 as well as Surface Pro 3 can use the stylus with their tablets.

Microsoft's InstaNote and Dialer for Lync Meetings leak out ahead of release

Two Microsoft productivity apps have leaked online ahead of release. The windows Phone apps, InstaNote and Dialer for Lync Meetings, are internal apps yet to be released by the company.

The InstaNote app, currently published as an internal beta on March 10, will enable Windows Phone owners to take voice notes instantly. It's believed later versions will allow for an advanced categorization system and saving said notes to Onenote. Pretty cool stuff, especially you're one to record conversations and require an app to integrate into other Microsoft services.

The second app leaked online is dialer for Lync Meetings, which essentially does exactly what it say on the tin. The app will enable users to connect to a Lync meeting using their minutes, which is particularly useful should you have signal, but a poor data connection or have a bunch of minutes but little data left on your plan.
We'll let you all know once the app are live and available for download.

Microsoft's Cross-Device, Cloud Based Clipboard app Lets users ''Copy once, Paste Anywhere''

Ever stumbled across an article or piece of text you wish you had on another device? You could, of course, send a link to yourself over email, or you could use one of the many note-taking apps such as Google Drive or Evernote.
Microsoft looks to be doing away with the need for these methods. The company is testing a new app called OneClip, which will give users access to text on their clipboard no matter what system they're using.
"With OneClip, it's easy to get back to the stuff you've seen and used," reads the description of the app. "It might be a photo you took, a screenshot you made, a phone number or address you copied on your PC (and really need now while you're on the run) or just an important piece of text.

Microsoft Has a Holographic TV Studio To Develop Holographic Content for HoloLens

One of the main differences between HoloLens and VR systems is the ability to blend computer generated content with the real world. Microsoft even demonstrated by having animated content such as monsters on a table in the room.Their technology figures out how to present virtual objects so they fit in with the real world. Imagine a person's hologram is projected in front of you, you could walk around the amaginary people just as if they were real, your view point changing seamlessly as if they were actually there. How to create content something like that? Microsoft has now built a holographic TV studio in Redmond. This TV studio has roughly 100 cameras capture a performance from many different angles and their algorithms create a highly accurate 3-D model of the person performing, resulting in a photo-real appearance. Microsoft calls them video holograms.

A ta recent technology confrence, Mirosoft demonstrated several holographic videos recording using this technology, Some of them are theatrical and acrobatic performances, sports instruction like golf technique, catwalk models for a clothing line.

One drive beta update forAndroid adds Wear watchface and PDF viewer

Microsoft has announced its OneDrive for android beta, and the latest update brings bug fixes and a couple of useful new features.

The first new feature is support for PDF viewing and, as spotted by AndroidPolice, you can now natively open any PDF document stored in your OneDrive and it works as expected. There’s also integrated search in the app, allowing you to show the contents of the document in a grid-like interface that’s synonymous with the app switcher on the HTC One M9.

The second new feature is tad more interesting: a watchface for android wear. The watchfare displays a digital clock on what are meant to be the photos stored on your device but Microsoft seems to be having some issues with displaying your photos. Instead, the watchface displays the stock photos on your handset.

Skype Helps Writers Co-author Books

Skype played a big part in the novel Mark Perini co-wrote with Juile Cross.

“it was Halloween in 2012 when Julie and I put the final words on the page to the first draft of our co-authored novel “Halfway Perfect”, Perini writes over on the Skype Play Blog.””fast forward to early 2013. ‘Halfway Perfect’ was complete and we were preparing it for sale. This meant picking it apart, trimming, streamlining and shaping it to make the words and characters leap even further from the page. Julie and I talked nearly every day during the process. Email is amazing, it truly is, but to create this type of emotionally deep story you need to be face-to-face or voice to voice – even when you are on the other side of world. With Skype chats and call, our communication was not hindered at all by the fact I was working in china for three months during the crucial phase of publication.”
Head over to the Play Blog  to read about these authors’ experience with skype.

OneDrive Road Map Reveals Offline Mobile Viewing

OneDrive may be one of the cheapest cloud storage services, but it’s not necessarily the most convenient. That’s something Microsoft is looking to change in 2015. Thanks to a roadmap that Microsoft showed at this week’s Ignite conference, we know exactly which features the company is working on, and when they’ll likely arrive. As Neowin notes, the focus is mainly on making files easier to access and share. For instance, Microsoft is adding read-only offline file access for iOS and Android in the third quarter.

Microsoft also revealed a “next-gen sync client” for PC and Mac, launching as a preview in Q3, and with general availability in Q4. Microsoft has previously said that it’s working on a desktop sync overhaul that lets users view their cloud contents without having to store them locally. While this is already possible with “placeholders” in Windows 8.1, Microsoft removed the feature in Windows 10, citing reliability issues and a confusing interface. It sounds like the improved version won’t be fully-baked in time for Windows 10’s summer launch. The new version, Microsoft said, will also allow users to selectively sync which folders they wish to or do not wish to back up online.
