How to Create ringtones on your Lumia

Inject some individualism into your Lumia with a customized ringtone. We’ll show you how.
Picture this familiar scene:

A mobile phone rings on a packed bus, but to whom does it belong? That elderly lady sitting in the back or is it yours?

Nobody knows, so everybody checks his or her Phone. It’s not yours, but it sounds a lot like it.
Avoid the “is it or isn’t it?” moment and change your default ringtone to something unique and personal one you’ll recognize instantly.

Here’s how: On your Lumia running Windows Phone 8.1, head to settings and then to “Ringtones+ sounds”.

A sizeable selection of tones and preinstalled. Maybe you’ll find something unique in there, such as Symmetry, Bling, Ahh Glitch, or Good Times.

If you want a ringtone that’s even more unique, try creating your own with the free app Ringtone Maker.

Ringtone maker can transform the songs you’ve stored on your Lumia into workable ringtones.
Load the app, browse for your favorite tune, and adjust the slider bar to select where you want the tune to end, with a maximum length of 60 seconds.

Once you have pressed save, your custom ringtone can be found under the “custom” subsection of your ringtone settings.
Alternatively, any music you have stored on your PC can also be used as a ringtone.
Connect your Lumia to your PC using a data cable and locate your phone in the File Explorer’s sidebar. Within “Phone’’ is a ringtone.
Simply drag and drop any tunes stored on your PC into the ringtones folder on your device.

Tronsmart releases the world’s most Powerful Car Charger

Long gone are the early days of car charger that output 2A being regarded as high-end: in 2015, with a number of different SoC manufacturers developing different types of quick-charge technology, our devices can take in an ever-growing amount of wattage and charge bigger batteries much faster than charging smaller batteries before. It’s also no longer having about one port either: not only do most members of the family have smartphones but at least one of them usually has a tablet as well. Tronsmart believes their latest product will be able to address both of these concerns.

Tronsmart’s latest car charger --- which as yet seems to be unnamed – has four ports with one port providing support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology and other three ports supports standard charging. All ports has Tronsmart’s proprietary voltIQ technology automatically adjusts ampare and wattage to the maximum ratio required by the device, so that more current –hungry devices are not starved and less current-hungry device is not over-allocated resources. Across the four ports there is a total of 54W available, making it the world’s most powerful. even their desktop products, like the recently reviewed Tronsmart USB smart charger, only provides 40W maximum.

All The Technologies to Look Out for This Year from the Chinese Smart Phone World

Technology moves at an ever increasing rate and terms and phrases grow and change. The Chinese smartphone world has its own set of phases and phrases, and enthusiasts or prospective buyers are sometimes overwhelmed by this independent electronics universe. You’ve probably seen me use certain specific terms in some of my news articles or reviews, and hopefully this editorial will go some way to cover some of those terms or technologies that are either already in use or will be in use over the next year.

2.5D Glass

2.5D screens were, as early as I can remember, first used by Nokia on their Windows Phone range, and it was slowly adopted by other products like the Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6, 2.5D screens are defined—as simply as possible—as where the Edge of the glass do not come to a 90 degree stop and instead round off. That is, rather than the edges of the glass being flat, they are contoured. The benefits to this are both visual and ergonomic, with the visual appeal being that the screen sort of ‘’bubbles’’ out with less pronounced bezels and the ergonomic benefits being that it’s simply more comfortable in the hand to hold.

They are all the rage in the Chinese world right now, with a number of phones supporting the technology, from the Oppo R7 to the Xiaomi Mi Note, but a lot of the smaller players are getting in to it too, including Ulefone and Oukitel with the UIefone Be Touch and the Oukitel U8 AND U9. We’re going to start seeing a lot more jump on the bandwagon, so this is definitely something to lookout for in the future of smartphones and tables.

1440p/4k Displays

Brace yourself for 1440p and 4k displays. The current standard for the Chinese smartphone industry in 1080p, but in the next few months we’re going to see a progressive shift to a higher 1440p resolution becoming the standard for flagship.

A Better Internet involves Towards all points of views, not just ones you agree with

The internet is no longer the ‘’wild west’’ to be sure. But the question is, what kind of the internet do we want it to evolve into.

I certainly would not want to see the Internet devolve into a series of individual ‘’hug boxes’’ where participants are only exposed to comforting, self-reinforcing opinions.

Similarly, I would not want to see the internet devolve into a place where people mask their  intolerance of other opinions by labeling those beliefs as ‘’hate speech’’ or ‘’dangerous beliefs’’ or ‘’harassing’’. Disagreement isn’t harassment.

Not agreeing with you doesn’t make it hate speech

Over the past few years, we have increasingly seen small groups bully their way to silence others by torturing the language. Disagreement becomes harassment. Challenging someone’s opinions becomes hate speech. Not sharing the right politics becomes ‘’dangerous’’ or ‘’extremist’’.

Routinely, we have also seen the most vocal proponents of censorship and intolerance turn on each other in an endless competition to establish who is greater victim, who is the least privileged or who has suffered the most. This race to the bottom is not a trend  that we should want to encourage.
Merit. Self Reliance. Hard Work.

There are things that our society relies on to function on a day to day basis. It is only because we have sufficient number of people who adhere to these beliefs that others have the luxury of engaging in debates regarding privilege, identity politics and superficial diversity goals.

Where is all heading

We have left the ‘’wild west’’. People are starting to understand that privately run sites are under no obligation to put up with hateful people in the name of ‘’unlimited free speech’’.

Our destination, however, remains unknown because the question of what exactly is ‘’hateful’’ and who decides what hateful is. I for one, do not want the question determined.

What say you?

Microsoft Edge browser won’t be an Option for Some Organizations

Organizations considering Windows 10 upgrade option will be steered, to a great degree, by Microsoft’s coming service-branch options, which will affect browser choice.
One little known aspect, in that regard, concerns Microsoft’s new Edge Web browser in Windows 10. Edge which runs alongside Microsoft’s internet explorer 11 browser in windows 10, it will not available to organizations that stick with the so-called ‘’long-term servicing branch’’ for maintaining windows 10.
‘’Edge won’t be included on LTSB builds,’’ explained by Michael A. Silver , a vice president and distinguished analyst at research and consulting firm Gartner, via –mail.

Build muscles with Lumia

Amateur and pro bodybuilders alike can get a boost with Windows Phone. Plan a routine, track your reps and get buff with these apps.

Back in the old days, your best friend at the gym was a notepad. Serious bodybuilder would use pen and paper to record their exercises, repetitions and weight for each set.

Smart Phones have made that process much easier, but most fitness apps on the market are designed for cardiovascular or endurance and general fitness goals. As an amateur body builder, I’ve longed for tools that serve my specific need to maximize muscle growth.

Luckily, the windows Phone Store offers several first-rate solutions for gym rats. After much personal research and testing, here’s a list of some favorites.

Trainer (free)

If you don’t have access to a professional gym, TRAINER lets you choose from professionally designed multi-day routines that use resistance exercises such as pull-ups, push-ups, jumping jacks and yoga poses to build muscles. There are 21 body weight and dumbbell-based exercises to work out your upper body, lower body and core.

The latest update this month added Microsoft Band integration to TRINER. Your Microsoft Band will now automatically recognize exercise movements such as tracking repetitions. That’s much-needed feature for folks like me who tend to cheat by ‘’rounding up’’ when counting reps.

DeekFit Gym  (free)

This is an excellent all-around gym tool that lets you enter and track workouts, build routines, monitor your weight and measurements, add custom exercises and even calculate your body Mass Index, Basal Metabolic Rate, and pound-to-kilogram conversions.

My favorite feature is that it can calculate the number and weight of individual plates to add to a barbell to achieve a desired overall weight. Very useful for when you’re more focused on the lifting than counting.

An ad-free version is also available for $2.99.

GymACE ($2.99)

This handy app allows you to customize your workouts and track your weight and measurements over time. GymACE boasts a huge database of exercises broken down by muscle group that with drawing showing you how to perform them.

Office 365 integrates Skype for Business chat and calls on the Web

Microsoft has updated his office 365 productivity suite on the Web with integrated Skype for business chat and calls. It’s also brought notifications, settings and help within easy search across the app.

Fire up the revamped Outlook, OneDrive for business or the calendar app and you’ll be able to launch Skype for Business by clicking on the icon in the top right colleagues without leaving your current window.

Office 365 also has a notifications pane that slides out from the right to display system alerts, personal reminders and new emails.

Similarly, you can access your settings for each Office 365 app without leaving your work by clicking the gear icon.

These features will begin rolling out to first release users over the next few weeks and to all Office 365 business customers over the next several months.

Search OneDrive by asking Cortana

By Adam Fraser
Remember all those photos you’ve auto-uploaded to OneDrive from your Lumia? Cortana can now search through them all for you so you don’t have to.

The recent update to the OneDrive app 4.12 on windows phone delivered one key update: Cortana integration.

If you’ve been capturing your world by snapping away and uploading those photos to OneDrive automatically, shifting through them all can be time consuming.

Once you’ve updated OneDrive app, launch it and accept the ‘’use Cortana to search your OneDrive files’’ message.

Now, anytime you activate Cortana(available in select markets) and say ‘’onedrive search for cat photos’’, or ‘’OneDrive search for people photos’’, or even more cleverly, ‘’OneDrive search for Hawaii sunset Photos,’’ you’ll be presented in seconds with what you have asked for.

But how does OneDrive know what’s in your photos?

Thanks to be very clever image-captioning technology, your photos are recognized and automatically tagged when they’re uploaded to OneDrive. So, when you take a photo of a cat and upload it, the technology identifies the characteristics of the cat and labels it as such.

The geographical data is already added the moment you take the photo; this is done by using the GPS on your device.

By making use of both of those features, OneDrive can find you photos of certain objects at specific locations. You can find more details about caption photos at the Next at Microsoft blog.

Be sure to update your OneDrive app today and take advantage of the Cortana integration.

How to Watch Today's Apple WWDC Keynote on any Device

Later today apple kiks off their WWDC 2015 confrence and as the annual event mainly focuses on the software and services side of the Cupertino company, specifically for developers, we should expect no hardware reveals. However, one of the more credible rumors is that Apple will launch a music streaming service at the event, following their $5 Billion of last five best years. As per usual, not much else is known for other reveals aside from details of iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, as well as Apple Watch, but you can follow along from San Francisco, with the big keynote speech scheduled for 10am PST/6pm BST. Live streaming the keynote requires Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later; Safari on iOS 6.0 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later. Assuming you have what's required, you can watch keynote. There is also an official WWDC app available on itunes that let you watch current and previous keynotes, browse times, locations, and descriptions for sessions, labs, and special events, and keep up with the latest news, get important notifications, and see daily photos. For those of us without an Apple device, you can watch live on Windows and Android, but you need VLC player.

Improve your Productivity With Sounds

A recent study claims that listening to chirping birds or crashing ocean waves isn’t just relaxing–soothing sounds can boost your productivity at work. [N]atural sounds … meet standards and criteria for speech privacy while enhancing cognitive functioning, optimizing the ability to concentrate, and increasing overall worker satisfaction,” stated the authors of the recent report from the journal, Acoustical Society of America. I agree–the sounds of clacking keyboards, ringing phones, and loud co-workers can bring an office alive but can also make it difficult to concentrate. The sound of people’s laughter, for example, distracts me greatly. Here’s a novel idea: Instead of asking your office mates to work quietly (or shooting them a stern look), use your Lumia to create a distraction-free work zone.

Limbo Dev's Xbox One Exclusive Delayed

Inside needs ''a little more time,'' says PlayDead.

''Last year we announced that inside would be out in early 2015. It's not a PlayDead representative told IGN. ''After five years in development, we--more than anyone-are looking forward to the release.

''We are so close, but getting it right has taken a little more time than we anticipated.''

Announced in 2014, Inside bears a striking resemblance to Limbo, the studio's breakthrough title. From the little shown of the game, it seams inside will also explore themes of desolation and despair.

Inside places you in a world in which the citizens are controlled automatons. The player takes control of a young boy who still has his mind and must journey across the Orwellian nightmare

Inside may appear at Microsoft's E3 press conference, which takes place on June 15, starting at 9:30 AM PDT.

Microsoft has previously said it will be trying something a little different this year at E3, though it did not detail what that will entail. Thus far, it has revealed it will focus more on first-party games this year, but Spencer has indicated Microsoft will be looking to shake things up in the other ways.

It is likely that Windows 10 will feature quite heavily in the press conference. Microsoft has touted a new and improved built-in Xbox app, cross-platform play support for games like Fable Legends, and even a game-streaming application operating system.

Skype used for spreading adware but Microsoft and Amazon are on the case

Skype is being used to spread adware to unsuspecting victims but Microsoft and Amazon are on the case.

Researches at PhishMe discovered that Skype was being used to spread nefarious applications to unsuspecting victims. Luckily, this isn't a case of technological failure but rather one of a bit of social engineering.

While savvy users, like our readers, know batter than to click on mysterious links and download ''software that makes your PC run faster'',many 'regular' people aren't so circumspect. That's why they might be willing to click on a nefarious link that was being spread through Skype IMs, claiming someone was trying to call the user.

Upon clicking, users would be taken to a site that told them to download various in order to view the message and to enjoy ''safer browsing''. The machine then be riddled by software that redirected internet traffic, all for the purpose of showing ads.

The researches contacted Microsoft as well as Amazon, which was hosting some of the domains where the attacks and spam were coming from. Together, the two companies are disrupting this scheme by nuking the accounts involved and going after the IP addresses used.

Xbox Boss: We Weren’t Fully Committed to PC Gaming, But That’s Changing Now

Heading: Our team has never committed more resources to making Windows better for game developers and gamers
Ahead of Microsoft’s appearance at the PC gaming show at E3 later this month, Xbox executive Phil Spencer has pledged to gamers that the mistakes of Fames for Windows live won’t be repeated with windows 10. Speaking with PC Gamers, which is hosting the event with Microsoft as a co-sponsor, Spencer started off by recalling the struggles of Microsoft’s PC gaming past.
‘’We weren’t fully committed as a company, and I’ve said that before. We made commitments to developers and consumers that I don’t feel we lived up to,’’ he said when asked about Games for windows live, ‘’the key difference now is that the Xbox team is driving the windows and console gaming efforts at one connected system.’’
If gaming on Windows 10 falls short, it won’t be for lack of efforts or resources.
‘’I can tell you definitively that our team has never committed more resources Windows better for game developers and gamers, and that means that any gamer on windows 10, regardless of storefront or device,’’ Spencer explained.
‘’windows is the most popular platform for games in the world and we are committed to doing more,’’ he added. ‘’Xbox needs to deliver meaningful, measureable improvements for games and gamers—both for existing games and services and new titles.’’
Asked if Microsoft’s internal development teams, as a part of the company’s overall renewed focus on PC gaming, would develop PC-exclusive games, Spencer promised support for the platform, but didn’t make any promises.
‘’The charter of Microsoft Studios is develop to games that showcase the best of every Windows device,’’ he said. ‘’You can absolutely count on us to invest in games for the PC. While we want to break down the walls between platforms, we also know that certain games are optimized for certain devices.’’
Spencer remained fans that Halo has a history of supporting PC with games like Halo: combat Evolved for the original Xbox and windows 98; Halo 2 for PC; and Halo: Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike for windows 8.

‘’There’s definitely a legacy there,’’ Spencer said. ‘’So no, we wouldn’t rule out more Halo coming to the PC.’’

Computex 2015 preview: ASUS, Microsoft, Intel and much more

One of the world’s biggest tech shows is back for another year, and there’s going to be plenty in store.
Its Computex time again when some of the biggest manufacturers in computing get together in Taipei  to show off their latest wares. With less of a focus on mobile , there’s plenty to see from the PC manufacturers.
We’ve made the trip, and here’s a quick run-through of what’s coming up throughout the coming week.

ASUS is known for going pretty crazy with product launches at its local show, and there’s little to suggest 2015 will be any different. With the company scheduling it’s “Zenstation” event a day before the doors to Computes open, it’ll be all eyes on them. Any announcements will be split across windows and android, with early information suggesting a new smartwatch and range of Android tablets.
But this is ASUS. They’re known for making some pretty great laptops, and while we had a couple of announcements not that long ago, who knows what will be left to show off here.
Intel
Intel is also hosting the first official keynote of computex. Since they’re powering most of our favourite  WINDOWS 8.1                 laptops, we’re very interested in what they have to say. One thing we do know is that immediately after the keynote, Intel will be delivering a special session dedicated to USB-C and Thunderbolt.

USB-C, in particular, is something we’re about to see a lot more of, so it’s well worth hearing what’s to be said.

Facebook Now Supports animated GIFs in the Timeline

Facebook has now enabled support for animated GIFs in users’ Timeline, taking a u-turn from its past decision.
People often use animated GIFs as a form of expression in forums and message boards. Even twitter has supported animated content for almost one year, but Facebook had so far avoided supporting them on its platform to prevent the Timeline from looking “CHAOTIC”. HOWEVER, The company has now backtracked on its original stand by allowing users to post GIFs to their Timeline.
It has been revealed that Facebook users will only allow be able to post the links to GIFs hosted by third-party sites. It is not known whether Facebook will enable uploading such files to its platform in the future. The links posted by users will automatically play depending on the video auto-play setting.

According to TechCrunch’s report, the feature is only available to regular users and not for pages and advertisers. As the feature is still rolling out, posting a GIF may not work immediately for everyone but when it does it surly will bring a new experience for long time Facebook users.

Hands on with the Android M Developer Preview

Shortly after it Google I/O announcement of the upcoming version of Android,  simply dubbed Android M for now, Google released its first developer preview for a handful of Nexus devices. I immediately installed that build on my Nexus 5 and noticed a few things off the bat and took a few preliminary.

I have been using the Android M developer Preview on my daily device for a couple of days now and have some subjective thoughts on the early release, especially compared to the Lollipop 5.1.1 release only days earlier.
The UI largely unchanged from Lollipop: Google has just moved its Material design language across the company’s portfolio and is probably not eager to move away from that soon. There are a few minor differences, such as the controversial decision to make the app drawer scroll vertically instead of horizontally paged and the font on the screen. The font changes feels largely irrelevant, but the app drawer differences are immediately noticeable, making it much more useful, if uglier.
Stability is greatly improved compared to the first Android L Developer previews, which were a testing ground for the new design language and the new Android RunTime, and UI performance and battery life feel comparable to what Android 5.1.1 offers. Game performance feels slightly worse, although the Nexus 5 has very little trouble with any Android so this is almost meaningless, and I’m sure benchmarks would show very little difference between the two latest builds.

The new feature that is most useful is the revamped Do Not Disturb, which while not perfect is a large improvement over the previous volume solutions. The new permissions model will likely become a critical piece of the Android experience as apps become compiled in the new SDK and support the granular permission model, and it is mildly useful, but I was able to make a few apps unresponsive or produce strange results when certain permissions were revoked.

Newegg just leaked the windows 10 price and release date

Although windows 10 will be a free upgrade who own a windows 7 or windows 8.1 PC, someone will have to buy a copy at retail –and on Saturday, Newegg accidently published the price and ship date for windows 10.
WinSuperSite appears to have been first to discover the pricing information. What hasn’t been confirmed, however, is whether the leak is accurate.
With that said, here’s the critical information: windows 10 will be available for purchase on August 31, according to a page on the retailer’s site. An OEM copy of windows 10 home will cost $109: an OEM copy of windows 10 professional will cost $149. Neither page lists any substantive differences between the home and professional editions of windows 10, the two versions of windows 10 designed for home PCs.
